Overview of the Doctor of Ministry Program at BTS

Birmingham Theological Seminary's Doctor of Ministry program is designed to support both bi-vocational and full-time pastors active in ordained ministry, as well as full-time ministry professionals in church-based or non-profit organizations. We offer four specialized tracks in our Doctor of Ministry Program:

  • Biblical Counseling
  • Apologetics
  • Church Vitality
Qualified Faculty and Mentorship Approach

All faculty members in each program have earned terminal, post-graduate degrees and bring extensive practical experience in their respective fields. They effectively integrate biblical, historical, practical, and theological insights into successful ministries, serving as both educators and mentors.

Cohort-Based Learning and Practical Application

The BTS D.Min. program is cohort-based and emphasizes classroom-oriented learning. It challenges students to blend educational innovation with community-driven learning, aiming to balance theoretical knowledge with applied professional skills.

The Biblical Counseling track at BTS is built on a Biblical Theological Framework, affirming the sufficiency of Scripture in addressing human condition issues, particularly those related to the heart. The program's goal is to cultivate experts in counseling ministry who are also empathetic shepherds grounded in solid theology and committed to local church ministry.
